Privacy Policy

Last updated:

PeopleTopics ("we", "us", "our") operates the website peopletopics.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect from visitors to this website, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.

This policy covers the website only. The participant platform used by mentors and mentees in active cohorts handles more data than this site does, and is not yet covered by a published policy; one will be added before the first cohort begins.

Who we are

PeopleTopics is operated by Brioschi Consulting, registered in Regensdorf, Switzerland (UID CHE-468.730.763).

What data we collect

  • Email address. When you join our waitlist through a form on this site, we collect the email address you provide.
  • Technical data. Like most websites, we automatically collect some technical information when you visit — such as IP address, browser type, device type, and pages viewed.

Giving us your email address is entirely optional. Everything on this site is readable without it; you would simply not hear from us about a cohort. We do not collect payment information here either — pricing is displayed, but no transactions happen on this site.

Why we collect it, and on what basis

  • Email address — to notify you about PeopleTopics cohorts, openings and related updates you have asked to hear about. Legal basis: your consent, given when you submit the form.
  • Analytics and advertising data — to understand how the site is used and to measure our advertising. Legal basis: your consent, given through the cookie banner. Nothing is collected for these purposes until you accept, and you can change your mind at any time.
  • Operational data — server logs and error reports, to keep the site working. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functioning site.

How we use your email

We use your email address only to send you information about PeopleTopics — cohort openings, relevant updates and occasional related content. We do not sell or rent your email address to third parties.

At present your address is stored and nothing is sent from it. We have not yet sent any waitlist email. When we begin, we will use an email provider and will name it here before the first message goes out.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address for as long as you remain on our waitlist or subscriber list, or until you ask us to delete it — whichever comes first. You can ask to be removed at any time by contacting us, and every email we send will carry an unsubscribe link.

Everything else expires on its own: Google Analytics keeps individual events for 2 months and visitor-level data for 14 months, and everything Azure records for us — page views, errors, in-app activity and IP addresses alike — is deleted after 30 days.

Who processes your data

  • Microsoft Azure — stores your email address in the European Union, and serves the pages themselves from Microsoft's servers worldwide, whichever is nearest you. It also receives page views, errors, the requests this site makes, what you do on the site — which sections you read, which buttons you press, how far you get through a form — and your IP address, which is used to work out roughly where visitors are. If you arrived from an advert or a link that carried campaign information, it receives that too. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, which is why this part runs whether or not you accept cookies.
  • Google Analytics (Google LLC) — measures how the site is used. Only with your consent.
  • Google Ads (Google LLC) — measures whether our advertising works, and adds you to a list of people who have visited this site, which can be used to show you our adverts again elsewhere on Google's network. When you join the waitlist for the first time, we tell Google Ads that a signup happened. "Enhanced conversions" is switched on for our account, so Google's script also takes the email address you typed, scrambles it in your browser so it cannot be read back, and sends that too — which lets Google recognise that the person who clicked the advert and the person who signed up are the same. A scrambled address still counts as personal data, so everything under "Your rights" applies to it. All of this only happens with your consent.

Cookies

Until you accept, the only thing we store on your device is your answer to the cookie question itself — necessary, because otherwise we would have to ask on every page. If you accept, Google sets the following. Google may set further cookies of its own as its products change; these are the ones we configure.

NameSet byPurposeExpires
_gaGoogle AnalyticsDistinguishes one visitor from another2 years
_ga_<id>Google AnalyticsKeeps track of a single visit2 years
_gcl_auGoogle AdsLinks an advertising click to a waitlist signup90 days
_gcl_aw, _gac_*Google AdsOnly if you arrived by clicking one of our ads — identifies which ad90 days
pt-consentUs Remembers your answer to this question. Necessary, and set either way. Stored in your browser's local storage rather than as a cookie Until you clear it

If you decline, we never load Google's measurement code, so Google is not contacted and receives nothing about your visit. If you accepted earlier and then withdraw, the code already running on the page you are on stops using cookies immediately and is not loaded again from your next page view — and we delete the Google cookies this site set on your device. Google may also hold cookies under its own web addresses rather than ours; a browser will not let one site delete another's, so those have to be cleared from your browser's own settings. You can change your choice at any time: .

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time (this will not affect anything done before you withdrew it)
  • Object to how we process your data
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Ask us to restrict how we use it while a question about it is being resolved

To exercise any of these rights, email sara@peopletopics.com. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the EU/EEA and believe we have not handled your data properly, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are in Switzerland, you can contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

International transfers

We are based in Switzerland, and your data is stored in the European Union (see Microsoft Azure above). Switzerland is recognised by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of data protection, so data controlled from Switzerland receives equivalent safeguards.

Google Analytics and Google Ads are operated by Google LLC in the United States. Google is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which serves as the transfer mechanism for data processed through those tools — and they only run at all if you accept cookies.

Children's privacy

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
