Privacy for programme participants

This page is for mentors and mentees taking part in a PeopleTopics mentoring cohort. It covers the one thing our website privacy policy does not: how matching uses AI. Everything else — who we are, what rights you have over your data, and how to reach us — is in that policy, and all of it applies here too.
AI-assisted matching
Part of joining a cohort is a questionnaire, and some of its answers you write in your own words: why each skill you picked matters to you, and what's motivating you to join. To suggest good matches, those written answers are read once by an AI service run by Microsoft Azure — the same processor that already stores all your programme data — on servers in Europe.
Your answers are not used to train AI models. Microsoft may keep a copy for up to 30 days to check its service is not being abused, then deletes it. What we keep from this analysis is a short structured summary, deleted with the rest of your data when your record is removed from the programme.
The AI only helps rank suggestions — a person reviews every suggested match before anyone is matched. Nothing else is processed this way: not the rest of the questionnaire, and nothing anyone writes on this website.
